Adverse Effects:
Fever, headache, dizziness, nausea; allergic reactions due to microfilarial death (Mazzotti-type). Rare: proteinuria, leukocytosis.
Contraindications:
Onchocerciasis (may worsen ocular damage), severe renal disease
Precautions:
Start with low dose to avoid severe reaction; corticosteroids may be required in high microfilarial load.
